First Look at the 20 Years of an Icon Statue Collection

We finally get a look at the ever secretive "20 Years of an Icon" statue collection by Gaming Heads! The image above is a mock-up of how the statues will look and how they all can fit together in one hell of a gorgeous display!

The statues were originally going to be cast in 1/4 scale which would have made the collection massive with a massive price tag. Plans have changed and now they will be cast in 1/6 scale making the collection much more feasible for collector's such as myself. There will be exclusive variations of each statue with slight differences, more on that later.

The first to be released will be the "Tomb Raider I" statue, hopefully coming later this year, followed by the "Tomb Raider III" statue early next year. The other statues will follow consecutively.

Below are the first 3D printed statues of the collection. You can imagine how wonderfully detailed these statues will be. Note how the Tomb Raider I statue's arms are posed differently...hmm.

The details of the statue collection were first shown by Meagan and Morrigan in the Crystal Compass Live stream. Check it out here: Crystal Compass Live - Episode #2

Tomb Raider Movie Trailer Unearthed

What an exciting 24 hours it has been! The Tomb Raider fan base is shook with the release of the full-length trailer for Tomb Raider. Watch it in all it's glory above.

And when I say all it's glory, I mean ALL IT'S GLORY! This trailer is packed with the very meaning TOMB RAIDER! You'll notice all the likenesses to the past two games and then... BOOM, dual pistols baby! That's right, and they're the exact models Angelina Jolie holstered in the first two films! It's got the tombs, the mysterious island, the brutal action, the drama, the bow and arrows, the guns, the growth of Lara as the bad ass Tomb Raider and more!

And that's not all! Watch the "Becoming Lara Croft" behind the scenes video below to get all sorts of gritty with Alicia Vikander!

And more! The trailer was released exclusively with a live sit down with Alicia herself, courtesy of IGN. Watch the happenings below.

Still more! The director, Roar Uthaug, gave us some commentary.

Nope, there's more! Alicia then proceeded to hop on set with James Corden of The Late Late Show and it is hilarious and awesome all at the same time!

I am so excited for this film and I can't wait to see it on opening night! I hope to see you there in March of 2018.

Tomb Raider Movie Teaser and Poster Revealed!!!

The time has come fellow raiders! The trailer for the upcoming Tomb Raider film is coming tomorrow and we have the official teaser above to prove it! I get all the feels and chills just watching this teaser and I can't wait to see the full trailer in the next 24 hours. Alicia Vikander looks absolutely adventurous as Lara Croft and I have no doubt this film will be an exhilarating experience for all fans.

The first official poster can be seen below as well. I love how closely it resembles the reboot video games. The look on Alicia's face shows some stern vulnerability, but the musculature of the body shows that she can handle anything and she will become the "Tomb Raider" we all know.

Keep your eyes open for the official trailer of Tomb Raider and more on the official social channels:

Official Site

Read the official film synopsis below:

Lara Croft is the fiercely independent daughter of an eccentric adventurer who vanished when she was scarcely a teen.  Now a young woman of 21 without any real focus or purpose, Lara navigates the chaotic streets of trendy East London as a bike courier, barely making the rent, and takes college courses, rarely making it to class.  Determined to forge her own path, she refuses to take the reins of her father’s global empire just as staunchly as she rejects the idea that he’s truly gone.  Advised to face the facts and move forward after seven years without him, even Lara can’t understand what drives her to finally solve the puzzle of his mysterious death.

Going explicitly against his final wishes, she leaves everything she knows behind in search of her dad’s last-known destination: a fabled tomb on a mythical island that might be somewhere off the coast of Japan.  But her mission will not be an easy one; just reaching the island will be extremely treacherous.  Suddenly, the stakes couldn’t be higher for Lara, who—against the odds and armed with only her sharp mind, blind faith and inherently stubborn spirit—must learn to push herself beyond her limits as she journeys into the unknown.  If she survives this perilous adventure, it could be the making of her, earning her the name tomb raider.

From Warner Bros. Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures, “Tomb Raider” is the story that will set a young and resolute Lara Croft on a path toward becoming a global hero.  The film stars Oscar winner Alicia Vikander (“Ex Machina,” “The Danish Girl”) in the lead role, under the direction of Roar Uthaug (“The Wave”), with Oscar-winner Graham King (“The Departed”) producing under his GK Films banner.

The film’s production begins on the heels of the 20th anniversary of the wildly popular videogame franchise from Square Enix, Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal.

“Tomb Raider” also stars Dominic West (“Money Monster,” “300”), Walton Goggins (“The Hateful Eight,” “Django Unchained”) and Daniel Wu (AMC’s “Into the Badlands”).

Shooting on location in South Africa and the UK, Uthaug directs from a script by Geneva Robertson-Dworet.  The director’s behind-the-scenes creative team includes director of photography George Richmond (“Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation”); production designer Gary Freeman (“Maleficent”); Oscar-nominated editor Stuart Baird (“Skyfall,” “Gorillas in the Mist”); and costume designer Tim Wonsik (key costumer, “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”).

“Tomb Raider” will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by MGM.

The "Original" Tomb Raider Game Informer Cover

Behold: This is the full artwork cover and advert of the original Tomb Raider from Game Informer magazine. I love that after almost 21 years after it's original release we are still uncovering treasures such as this.

Lara Croft Spotted in Ready Player One Teaser!

If you haven't came across this yet, this is very interesting! Lara Croft can be seen in this "Ready Player One" SDCC Teaser Trailer! A lot of characters are going to be in this film, but it came as a total surprise to see LC herself! You can see her at about the 1:50 mark towards the right of the screen talking to Master Chief amidst the race cars!

It was also surprising to see this and absolutely nothing about the upcoming Tomb Raider film. I was expecting at least a teaser or a panel since it was presumed Alicia Vikander was in the immediate area. I guess they have other plans for us and we'll just have to wait and see.

Updates On The Tomb Raider Suite Progress

GameFaceShow recently interviewed Nathan McCree on The Tomb Raider Suite and his progress on the project.

Nathan is hard at work getting The Tomb Raider Suite all set for production! Over the last month he has been going through all of the orders of the backers tallying up everything that needs to be made. He is about half way through, so hang in there if you haven't heard from him yet. He will confirm your add-ons and such via e-mail.

The stretch goals are also looking like they indeed will be possible. Nathan has confirmed that the choir will be increased from 20 to 40 members and a 5th recording session will be held at Abbey Road Studios. Hopefully the rest of the goals can be made as well.

The Tomb Raider Suite website will soon be updated with options to purchase select Kickstarter merchandise and the retail version of the album!

Tomb Raider IV Promo Mock-Ups

With "The Tomb Raider Suite" album in the process of being recorded and not much else popping up on the new "Tomb Raider" film, we are in a bit of a lull... In the meantime, Meagan Marie and Crystal Dynamics scrounged up some nice classic assets. Here are two unused promo mock-ups from "Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation". More to come soon so stay tuned. Enjoy!

The Tomb Raider Suite has just over an hour left and we have seen such tremendous support! With a main goal of about $207,000 USD, we are currently sitting at a whopping $247,827 USD! That's almost 120% funded!

We can only assume that the stretch goals of mastering the original synthesizer soundtracks and the documentary are within reach, but we'll just have to wait to hear from Nathan himself. I am so happy for Nathan McCree and all of us Tomb Raider fans can rejoice in cherishing his music all over again in a brand new masterpiece.

Friday, June 23, 2017

The Tomb Raider Suite has successfully met it's goal and keeps on climbing! With 22 hours still remaining and pledges still rolling in, I have faith that we will reach all of the stretch goals as well!

Stretch Goals:

  • Increase the size of the Choir for the recording at Abbey Road
  • Increase the size of the Brass Section for the recording at Abbey Road
  • Increase the size of the Woodwind Section for the recording at Abbey Road
  • Record and release the synthesizer only version of The Tomb Raider Suite
  • Remaster and release the original, unchanged game soundtracks for Tomb Raider I, II, and III
  • Film and release a TV/DVD documentary about the making of The Tomb Raider Suite

I knew we could do it Raiders! I am so excited and cannot wait for all of us to get this iconic piece of Tomb Raider History in our hands!
